Sewing Machine Purchase

After losing their home and belongings in the flood, a mother, her student child, and a bedridden grandmother were left starting over from scratch in temporary housing. Prior to the disaster, the mother supported the household by growing mushrooms and operating two sewing machines to produce clothes and assemble teddy bears. With both machines destroyed and no space for mushroom cultivation, the family was pushed into severe financial strain, relying on her occasional farm labor (earning Rs. 1,500 per day, only 2–3 days a week) while managing recurring costs like the grandmother's Rs. 1,650 weekly medical care.
To restore sustainable, independent income, the project funded a full replacement industrial sewing machine setup totaling Rs. 113,000 (Rs. 110,000 for the discounted machine, Rs. 1,500 for a power extension, and Rs. 1,500 for transport).
With this equipment, the mother can immediately resume contract tailoring and bulk teddy bear assembly directly from home. Replacing her lost tools lifts the family out of precarious day labor, providing reliable earnings to meet day-to-day living expenses and care for her dependent mother full-time.
